AI Applications and Its Broader Influence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the world around us, and its impact on society is only going to grow in the years to come. AI is already being used in a wide variety of applications, from healthcare to transportation to finance. As AI becomes more sophisticated, we can expect to see it even more deeply embedded in our lives. As it evolves AI is making difficult tasks easier and opening opportunities for people that they may not have been able to achieve on their own. AI is having a significant impact on the job market, economy, and day-to-day lives of ordinary people in several ways.

AI in the workforce:

AI is automating many tasks that were previously done by humans, which is leading to job displacement in some industries. For example, self-driving cars are likely to lead to job losses for truck drivers and taxi drivers. However, AI is also creating new jobs in other industries. For example, AI-powered healthcare systems are creating new jobs for data scientists and machine learning engineers.

Economy:

AI is expected to boost economic growth by increasing productivity and efficiency. For example, AI-powered manufacturing systems can produce goods with fewer defects and in less time than traditional manufacturing systems in a similar fashion to the increase in production with the advent of the steam engine. AI is also expected to create new industries and markets. For example, the self-driving car industry is expected to create millions of new jobs.

Day-to-day lives:

AI is already having a significant impact on the day-to-day lives of ordinary people. For example, AI-powered virtual assistants such as Siri and Alexa are being used to control smart homes, set alarms, and play music. AI is also being used to personalise experiences, such as recommending products and services based on a person's past purchases or browsing history. Personally I use an AI assistant when I am writing client reports

Overall, AI is having a major impact on our world. It is important to be aware of the potential benefits and risks of AI so that we can make informed decisions about how to develop and use this powerful technology.

    One of the most exciting areas of growth is AI generated innovations. From creating new business ideas to creating content to streamlining digital processes. The applications of AI are immense and wide ranging and can be applied to mAny different industries, especially in the online space.

    Ai is being used more and more frequently to produce large volumes of content far more quickly than was previously possible. Content such as videos on YouTube, TikTok and other social media can be made in an afternoon when it used to take a few days. Everything from music, background images, narration and even AI video can be made using an array of programs. There are even smart schedulers that will post the content at the optimal time with the right input from the user. 

    This can help to improve quality, personalise content or even make niche content more appealing to a wider audience. It really depends on how the user utilises the tools at their disposal. Different tools give different results and some are just far better than others.

    These innovations mean that the quality of internet content as a whole is increasing and becoming more polished, factual and honest, in most cases. The only downside is the AI echo chamber effect. If incorrect or false information is posted to the internet (crazy but it does sometimes happen) then other AI can find this content and spread it further. If you are making content then always be sure to fact check your AI collected data just in case.

    Meta has begun testing AI generated ads for Facebook with the announcement of their AI sandbox for advertisers in May 2023. This testing ground has the possibility of bringing more advertisers to their platform and generating more successfully targeted ads. 

     Meta's AI-generated advertisements are a new suite of tools that allow advertisers to create and test ad creatives faster and more easily using artificial intelligence. These tools can be used to generate different variations of ad text, images, and videos, and to tailor ads to specific audiences.

    Some of the specific features of Meta's AI-generated advertisements include:

  • Text generation: Advertisers can use this feature to generate multiple versions of ad copy based on a single input.This can be useful for creating ads for different audiences or for testing different messaging.
  • Image generation: Advertisers can use this feature to generate new images based on existing ones. This can be useful for creating ad images that are more visually appealing or that are more relevant to specific audiences.
  • Video generation: Advertisers can use this feature to generate new videos based on existing ones or from scratch.This can be useful for creating ad videos that are more engaging or that are more relevant to specific audiences.
  • Meta's AI-generated advertisements are currently in beta testing, but they are expected to be rolled out to all advertisers in the near future.

    However, it is important to note that Meta's AI-generated advertisements are still under development, and it is important to use them responsibly. Advertisers should always be careful not to generate ad creatives that are misleading or deceptive.

    AI-powered customer service chatbots:

    AI chatbots are a technology that I am personally very excited about. Chatbots can handle customer inquires, resolve commonly found issues and provide personalised assistance 24/7 for a fraction of the cost currently associated with this industry. When paired with a good AI voice and language model this technology could improve customer satisfaction, remove bias, decrease the time from the start of the call to a resolution and overall improve the customer service experience for everyone involved. Even simple text only models are already extremely useful.

    AI-generated product recommendations:

    Another promising area of AI expansion is AI generated product recommendations. We’ve all seen those questionable ads on Facebook and other social media and thought “why the hell is this being recommended to me?” What if instead of that it showed you merch for your favourite band or some tools for that hobby that you’ve just started to get into? Instead of scrolling through an entire store to maybe find something you’ll buy, an AI could compile a list in seconds of all the best items for sale. The AI can analyse customer behaviour, purchase history and browsing data to provide recommendations that are more relevant to the individual. From the point of view of the retailer this will increase sales, decrease bounce rate, reduce total returns and improve customer satisfaction. 

    What This Means For Us

    As AI technology expands into more and more areas the innovation it brings will help to revolutionise the way we do business and live our day to day lives. The capabilities of the technology are expanding constantly as the algorithms used and coding techniques implemented get more efficient and powerful with every new iteration. As the tech becomes more and more intertwined with our everyday lives we have to start considering ethics and the legal dilemma surrounding the use of artificial intelligence.
